County Championship: Zak Crawley continues to struggle with bat for Kent while Emilio Gay impresses for Durham

Zak Crawley failed again for Kent in Saturday's County Championship as his chances of keeping his England place continue to diminish.

After making a breezy 44 on day one of the Division Two clash with Derbyshire, the opener made just 15 in the second innings before being trapped lbw by Rory Haydon.

Despite Crawley's low score, Kent are in a good position, ending day two on 38 for two with a second-innings lead of 86. Kent earlier bowled Derbyshire out for 304, with Keith Dudgeon taking four for 78.

Emilio Gay has been touted as a possibility for a Test call-up and finished the day on 75 not out as Durham responded to Middlesex's hefty score of 430.

Ryan Higgins converted an overnight fifty into 131, but Gay was in form as Durham made it to 135 for one at close.

Ollie Pope will hope to make hay on Sunday in his bid to be involved in England's plans as Surrey look to force a sizeable first-innings lead against Sussex.

Pope is not out on 14 as Surrey closed on 292 for two in response to Sussex's 358 for nine declared. Dominic Sibley is not out on 116, with opening partner Rory Burns adding 77.

Yorkshire fought back against Somerset, bowling their hosts out for 274 from a position of 201 for four. They are still 99 behind, though, with 10 second-innings wickets in hand.

Olly Stone's five-wicket haul put Nottinghamshire in command against Leicestershire.

Stone took five for 41 to reduce the hosts to 220 for eight in response to Nottinghamshire's 490.

Kiran Carlson turned his overnight century into a double as he posted 209 in Glamorgan's mammoth 536 for seven declared against Hampshire.

The hosts were 58 for no loss after a weather-affected final session.

Ricardo Vasconcelos scored a century as Northamptonshire batted out the day against Worcestershire.
The opener scored 115 as Northamptonshire were 366 for five, with a first-innings lead of 60.
